Okay, so while some of us are still trying to scrub our eyes clean of what we read in the pages of Fifty Shades, we can’t deny that we are a little bit curious about the upcoming movie, and who will play our Mr Grey. While I’m not confessing myself a fan of BDSM by a long shot, as I said some of the images will never leave my mind… however, I’m the ultimate fan of romance. If there is romance somewhere in a story I will read/watch it. Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele just happen to be that sort of love story. The one were they both becomes a better versions of themselves because of how deep their love for each other is. So while the movie may be very awkward to go and see we can’t pretend like we won’t be lining up to see it and eagerly awaiting the cast list.

So with so much speculation around lately about who will star as the main characters, I thought I would make a list of who is rumoured to be in consideration.

Christian Grey

Ahhh Christian Grey, our very troubled, domineering male lead. Grey is described as having dark copper hair, gray eyes, young (27), incredibly successful, wealthy, tall, muscular, broad shouldered, and mysterious, with his secret dark side and past. Ian Somerhalder

Best know for his portrayal of Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries, Somerhalder was fan picked early on as being a top contender. He definitely has the tortured sexiness about him. I mean who would say no to him?

Alexander Skarsgard

 Another vampire candidate! You’ll recognise Skarsgard if you are a fan of True Blood in which he plays Eric Northman. But at 36 will he be about to pull off the young entrepreneur look? (In saying that many of the top fan favourites are in their mid 30’s!!!)

Matt Bomer

White Collar’s, Matt Bomer, has also been throw around in the mix in online fan polls. With many pinning him neck and neck for the part with Ian Somerhalder. However, screenwriter Bret Eastern Ellis, sparked online controversy when he tweeted, “Okay I'll say it.  Matt Bomer isn't right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay. He's great for other roles but this is too big a game.”

Ryan Gosling

 It doesn’t look as though our beloved The Notebook star is the favourite to play Christian Grey. Author E.L. James reportedly shot down those rumours back in September, but then again you never know.

Chris Hemsworth

 The most recent actor to step into the spotlight with speculation surrounding Fifty Shades is our very own Aussie born Chris Hemsworth. Apparently his performance in upcoming movie Rush, caught the eye of Fifty Shades producers. Well I can definitely say that I’m a fan!

Henry Cavill

A little more age appropriate than some of the other chooses is Henry Cavill. From Tristan and Isolde, Red Riding Hood and Stardust and most recently Superman in Man of Steel, Cavill is heating the polls as another recent frontrunner for the part.

Anastasia Steele

Ana is portrayed throughout the books to be a rather innocent, shy, slim, shabby, self conscious and stubborn sort of person. As the story is told by her she describes herself as pale, with brown hair and too big for her face blue eyes. She also admits to being somewhat, but not overly, pretty.

Alexis Bledel

 Well we all know Alexis Bledel from her days as Rory Gilmore on the Gilmore Girls, so she definitely has that stereotypical ‘girl next door’ look about her. Not to mention that her facial features are almost perfectly how they are described in the book. However, with only a few previous sex scenes under her belt is Bledel a bit too innocent of an actress to get down and dirty with Christian Grey?

Anne Hathaway

 On the other end of the spectrum we all know that Anne Hathaway isn’t afraid to take her clothes of in the name of entertainment (Love and Other Four Letter Words…). However, would playing Anastasia Steele be a step back from chopping all her hair off in hopes of an Academy Award for dramatic music Les Miserables?

Ashley Greene

 Ashley Greene is best known for her part as Alice Cullen in the hit movie franchise Twilight, so would she play Ana well? A self-confessed tomboy, she definitely has the sort of look that Steele is described as in the books.

Emma Watson

 Hoping to finally break out of her Harry Potter mould, is Emma Watson ready to swap her wand in for a whip??? While she is trying to prove herself as a serious actress, is Fifty Shades maybe a bit too big of a jump?

Felicity Jones

 Hmmm, Felicity Jones? I’m afraid to say that I only know her as the girl from The Worst Witch, which, lets face it, was The Worst Show! However, perhaps Ana Steele should be portrayed by a relatively unknown actress?

Krysten Ritter

 Don’t Trust the B star Krysten Ritter has recently come forward to say that if asked she wouldn’t turn down the roll. While I think she is hilarious and I love her in Don't Trust the B, I'm not sure if she quite has the same innocence as some of the others have though!

Lucy Hale

 Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale definitely has the Ana look going for her, same eyes, same build, same hair… She has even reportedly said “I’m definitely a huge fan of the books. Obviously I’d be thrilled to be apart of it.” Not very shy about her enthusiasm!!!

Mila Kunis

 Although there has been rumours whether or not Mila Kunis is in talks for the role of Anastasia Steele she here on my list because she was a fan choice.

Emilia Clarke

Best known for her part as Daenerys Targaryen in TV series Game of Thrones, 24 year old British actress Emilia Clarke is probably the most recent star to set Fifty Shade polls rocking. Emilia has the natural look, pale skin, brown hair and big eyes. Not to mention that she is clearly not fazed about the nudity and sex scene, which might just win her the part.
