Rachel

Hello everyone,

My name is Rachel, I don't know really how to describe myself but I've been told that I smile a lot, and by a lot I mean all the time! Some people find this a little weird because seriously who smiles all the time? (Kerry's words) What can I say I'm just a happy person.

I love spending time with my fiance Chris and my family, watching movies and TV shows, listening to music (sometime making up my own words), staring at hot people like a stalker,  and reading.

When I was younger it 'wasn't cool' to read, so instead of being an outcast I became a sheep and followed the flock. When secretly at night I changed into a worm. A Book Worm!

To most people who asked I was only reading because my Dad paid me too. He not only bought the books, but gave me $5 a book to finish them. Somehow I managed to negotiate this to $10 as I got older. I was scamming my Dad. I think he secretly knew my dirty secret, that I loved to read, and was just playing along.

The first book I ever read was The BFG, but it wasn't until Harry Potter that I fell in love with reading. When I went to high school I stopped reading altogether, until my TAFE lecturer started talking about this book that was being turned into a movie. I pretended to be interested when really I thought she on crack, I just wanted to pass. A few months later I saw the trailer for the movie, and thought the guy was hot. So I had a great idea, I would read the book! I was on a deadline because the movie was coming out and I need to finish it beforehand. I started reading and couldn't put it down. Within a couple of hours I was finished and hooked. After a week I had finished the series. Of course it was Twilight.

I didn't think I would ever find another book that I would love as much as that so I stopped reading again. It wasn't until I was in desperate need of an escape from reality that I went on a reading rampage. By rampage I mean reading over 200 books in the last 7 months. No that is not an exaggeration! I have my Kobo to prove it.

Kerry thinks that I live in my own little happy bubble. I refuse to watch the news because it is too depressing, and if I I do most likely end up in tears. That is where our blog was born, from out of my bubble. A world where books are real, characters come to life, and everyone is smiling all the time!

Kerry

Hey there everyone,

My name is Kerry. I'm a happily married, mother of two beautiful children. I love to bake, read, write and watch movies and TV.

I am typically quite a shy person. I usually come across as rude or mean because I don't have the confidence to go up and talk to people that I'm not comfortable with. That was Rachel's impression of me at least (and a few others I have now learnt of).

Growing up the only times I was confident and outgoing was when I was fighting along side Harry Potter, or telling Mr Darcy that he "were the last man in the world whom I could ever be prevailed on to marry." These characters in my books where my heroes.

It was books that finally broke down my defenses and brought Rachel and I together. As I said I was a die hard Harry Potter fan, and I was still getting over the most suspenseful 10 years of my life when I read that people were starting to compare it to a new series. Some were even saying that this new series was better!!! Well let's just say I was hesitate to read this new book.

It was a few months later when I was sitting awkwardly in my lunch break at work with Rachel quietly reading next to me. Feeling uncomfortable, as I do in those situations, my sandwich became very interesting. That's when I saw it. Rachel was reading Twilight!!! I couldn't help myself,
"You're reading Twilight," I blurted out, shocking Rachel who I'm sure probably thought I was some sort of mute at this stage. "Is it good? I read that people are saying it's better than Harry Potter" I couldn't help asking. I had to know how people could possible be rating this book against one of the best selling books of all time.

I don't remember Rachel's answer exactly, she said something about really liking it. It was from then on I realized just how much I had in common with her. We had seen all the same movies (even the really bad ones that I swore I was the only person to have ever seen), and we loved all the same books. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

And yes if you are wondering I did end up reading (and becoming obsessed with) Twilight. I don't know if I could say that the books themselves were actually "better" than Harry Potter. I will still go to my grave clutching my Harry Potter's.

Would you, please, be so kind to accept reading and reviewing my paranormal romance Shadows of the Past? My novel was released on 4th December as an e-book by Wild Child Publishing, USA. If the answer is affirmative I can send you a PDF .
    Summary ~from Goodreads~

When Anne and Neil leave on a one-week holiday hoping to reconcile after a two-year separation, little do they know that destiny has other plans for them. Their discovery of human bones and a bejeweled cross in the hollow of a tree open the door to the supernatural realm and the anguished life of Genevieve, a nun from medieval England.

Can Anne save her relationship and help Genevieve her eternal rest?

The twists and turns in this paranormal tale keep the reader guessing up to the end and weave themselves together into a quest to rekindle love.

Award winning author Paulette Mahurin says in the review she wrote for Shadows of the past," Carmen Stefanescu’s Shadows of the Past was a great read that I enjoyed from the first page through the last sentence, that I was sorry to see end.... an excellently crafted work, by an author who clearly knows how to write, who understands literature, and knows how to tell a compellingly great story....
